History
Red Press Studios began in 1994 in St. Louis, Missouri, when artists Chip Dunahugh and Romi Sloboda joined their resources and started Red Press for printing their own work. The foundation piece of Red Press Studios is a red press, a handbuilt etching press that measures 39" wide and 84" long. The press is an early Island Press, built by Washington University professors Peter Marcus & Kevin Garber.
Red Press Studios moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1997, accompanying Chip and Romi when they married and Chip began the MFA program at Tyler School of Art at Temple University. For eight years, Red Press was located in the Rivers Edge neighborhood in Old City Philadelphia.
In 2005, Red Press Studios relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and is now located close to downtown Santa Fe in the historic Guadalupe-Railyard district.
